Maria and Mark met in high school and have been inseparable ever since. Mark proposed on their ninth anniversary when they were in Florida.
In planning their wedding, they observed many of the Chinese customs, including beginning their wedding day with the traditional Tea Ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents. The tea ceremony is a significant event in a modern Chinese wedding as the bridal couples serve their parents, grandparents and other family members and receive their blessings. The couple wore custom designed traditional gowns made in Hong Kong especially for the service. Maria and Mark changed into their formal bridal ensembles for the service at the Saviour of the World Chinese Catholic Church.
Then, their 175 guests gathered for a dinner-and-dancing reception at which the many guests who came from Hong Kong were acknowledged.
