An Island Themed Destination Wedding in Jamaica

A Nascar-related joke sparked the loving relationship Kelly-Lyn Verberne and Christopher Caughlin share today. Meeting on an online dating website, it was Christopher’s initial email that caught Kelly-Lyn’s eye. “[It was the] most amazing and well thought out email I had ever received,” Kelly-Lyn shared.

The couple dated for four years before Christopher proposed on their first trip away from home. “While at our airport hotel Chris was acting funny and I thought he was just a nervous flyer,” describes Kelly-Lyn. With the fear of airport security pulling the ring out of Christopher’s carry-on plaguing him, Kelly-Lyn explained that it was after dinner that “he decided to get on one knee in the middle of our room and propose to me!”

Kelly-Lyn and Christopher returned to Jamaica and held an island-themed wedding on February 8, 2012. They said their vows in front of 32 guests at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Jamaica.

Kelly-Lyn’s favourite moment was when she walked down the aisle. “Chris’s face just lit up,” she says.” Chris was really worried about getting his vows wrong and I could almost see the worry leave him.” They didn’t have a first dance, but a steel band played Bob Marley tunes as they walked down the aisle.
